Brazil "supports Iran's strong positions in the fight against terrorism," Fernando Collor, head of the Foreign Policy and National Security Committee in the Brazilian Senate, said in a meeting with Iranian ambassador to Brasilia Ali Saqhyan on Tuesday.
Boosting parliamentary ties between the Federative Republic of Brazil and the Islamic Republic of Iran is strengthening bilateral cooperation, Ali Saghayan said.
Ali Saghayan, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Brasilia met on Tuesday with Senator Fernando Collor, the former president of the Republic and current chairman of the Committee on Foreign Policy and National Security of the Brazilian Senate.
At the beginning of the meeting, Saghayan with reference to the historical and long-standing relations between the two countries stated: "The good relationship between both countries, there is great potential to improve the level of relations in various fields, and the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran supports the increase of cooperation and exchanges between the two countries ".
He added that parliamentary friendship groups in the two parliaments of the Federative Republic of Brazil and in the Islamic Consultative Assembly can facilitate and accelerate bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Senator Fernando Collor, welcoming the development of parliamentary cooperation, said: "I hope that with the exchange of parliamentary delegations, especially friendship groups, it will increase the level of cooperation and boost and broaden relations in all areas."
The head of the Brazilian Senate's Committee on Foreign Policy and National Security, appreciating the approach of Dr. Rouhani's government based on solving problems through peaceful dialogue, emphasized: "We will support Iran's stance in the fight against terrorism and we are content of the Iranian consolidated position in the region and globally. "
The Iranian ambassador at the meeting on behalf of Alaedin Broujerdi the Chairman of the Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran officially invited Senator Collor to visit Tehran.
