NIGC Mulls Gas Supply to over 1,200 Villages in Government Week

A project to supply natural gas to 1,205 Iranian villages will start during the Government Week starting 23 August 2016, a senior gas official said.



Speaking to Shana, Naser Ebrahimi, head of the gas distribution department of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), said IRR4,449b has been allocated for the projects by NIGC.
In Iran, the state-run NIGC is the only supplier of gas to household and industrial sectors.
He further said, besides these villages, gas supply projects to 556 other villages will start during the week. Once completed, these projects will bring the number of Iranian villages with access to natural gas to 51,831 villages.
He further said that during the same week, 7 cities in the norther western province of West Azerbaijan, central provinces of Isfahan, Yazd and Qazvin will be linked to the national gas distribution network.
Inauguration of 11 CNG stations and gas supply to 263 industrial units will also be carried out during the government week.
