We have already presented two provinces: East Azerbaijan and Western Azerbaijan. In today's post we will bring the province of Ardebil to your attention. I hope you can join us for another virtual trip.
The province of Ardebil, with a surface of more than 18,000 square kilometers, is located in the north-west of Iran and next to the high mountain of Sabalan and, delimited from the north and northeast with the Republic of Azerbaijan, from east and southeast with the province of Quilan, to the west with the province of East Azerbaijan and to the south it is limited with the province of Zanjan.
Ardebil province, due to its history, social and cultural situation is one of the most important areas of Iran. Due to the unique geological and topographic situation of this area, a beautiful natural panorama has been created that has increased the natural wealth of this region. The glorious mountain of Sabalan and its volcanic peak, hot springs and numerous small natural lakes are the most impressive natural attractions in this part of Iranian territory.
The mountain range of Sabalan, which in the local language is called Sawalan, consists of multiple mountains, its highest peak called Soltan Sabalan which reaches 4,811 meters. Sabalan is one of the highest peaks in Iran and along a beautiful mountain lake has made it an exclusive place among the mountains of Iran. The great natural glaciers that have surrounded the mountain, especially the thermal springs, the mountains that has more than 4,000 meters, such as Heram-Daq, Kasre-Daq, Ilgar, Qezel-Daq and Qusha gave a good view to the mountain chain of Sabalan.
The mountain of Sabalan is one of the important river basins of the provinces of Ardebil and East Azerbaijan. The northern mountain ranges extend to the valley of the rivers of Qarah-Su and Ahar-Chay, and on the other hand, the mountain ranges to the south extend to the rivers of Talkhe-rud (Ayi-Chay). For, Sabalan supplies most of the waters of the rivers Ara and the lake of Urumihe. The numerous sources of cold and hot water in the stands of Sabalan that are dispersed of black and green color, that have given a precious sight to this zone. The name of the province of Ardebil is associated with the name of the nomads of Shahsawan (Ilsawan), which for many years of its existence in the slopes of Sabalan, have already been accustomed for many years to the cold and warm air of the green zone and the mountain of Sabalan, like a high tower, the mountain of Sabalan, observes the attempt of the nomads that immigrate continuously from the south to the north and vice versa and that continue their simple life.
The existence of multiple natural resources, such as lakes, hot springs, forests, and different places to enjoy, attracts annually, especially in summer, tourists from different parts of Iran and even from other countries of the world to enjoy the blessings of this region.
Ardebil province is one of Iran's major agricultural regions. The most important products include wheat, barley, legumes and different types of grains (including soybeans), as well as different types of fruit. The large industrial-farming complex of Moqan that is located in this region gave much importance to the province of Ardebil.
One of the characteristics of this province is the good geographical situation in this area for livestock. The multiple slopes on the sides of the Sabalan mountain are great places to raise farm animals and produce meats and produce good protein. Beekeeping and the production of honey and fish farming are other works of the people of this region.
The province of Ardebil, for its historical antecedents, is one of the most important cultural and historical regions of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The dozens and valuable historical works that are linked to Ardebil today the luminous Islamic and pre-Islamic eras. According to the historians, and the antecedents of human life in this zone to more than 4,000 years a.C.
Alongside the natural resources, there are also historical monuments such as the Safi al-din Ardebili Sheikh (Sheikh) mausoleum, which includes numerous monuments from different eras. The crafts of the province of Ardebil are classified in two groups: the manual industries and the industries with machineries. The manual industries are produced to a greater extent by the nomads and the inhabitants of the towns and small towns of the region, which consist of weaving Quelim and Jajim (two types of carpets), woolen fabrics, crocheted fabrics and other types of fabrics of the nomads. The industries with machinery of the region are based on the primary products of the province's mines. The geological characteristics and the structural variety of the mineral resources of the province are striking, since metallic deposits such as copper, zinc, gold and lead are found in this area.
In the final part of today's post we will present another part of the impressive nature of Ardebil province called the "Heiran" road, where one of Iran's natural regions lies between the Astara-Ardebil road. The wonderful journey is a unique and impressive dream for everyone's eyes. The road is bordered by forest-covered mountains and, on the other hand, by valleys not so deep in which it crosses the River Ara. The Heiran road is almost always covered by fog. The valleys, the slopes of the mountains covered by the flowers and forest plants where the herds are always grazing, bee hives are the first to be seen at first sight. The pleasant climate of the Heiran road in the summer is to be able to contemplate the pure nature and witness the movement of the troops of wild horses, that leave to all a good innovative image in the mind of any visitor. For this reason, nature lovers call this region the Alpine of Iran.
